MANCHESTER, NH - The Manchester Monarchs, the primary affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings, announce the team's 2008-09 promotional schedule with some returning favorites such as our annual New Year's Celebration and Max's Birthday, as well as several new, exciting promotions including a Candidate Bobblehead Night, a cash Thanksgiveaway, an Ugly Sweater Holiday Celebration and a Salute to Canada Night, Monarchs Vice President of Ticket Sales and Marketing Jason Bergeron announced today.

The first 2,000 fans on October 24 will have the opportunity to cast their vote in the 2008 Monarchs Bobble-Election by choosing either a John McCain bobblehead or a Barack Obama bobblehead, courtesy of the Union Leader. Each bobblehead has the candidate donning a Monarchs jersey. On November 28, the first 2,000 fans will receive envelopes containing cash, Monarchs Bucks or a chance to participate in other cash themed events throughout the night for the Monarchs Thanksgiveaway, courtesy of TD Banknorth. Join the Monarchs in celebrating Canadian heritage in the team's Salute to Canada night on February 13 with a special anthem, intermission act and promotions throughout the night.

"We're preparing for another thrilling season in Monarchs Country with some great promotions and giveaways," said Bergeron. "Our eighth season is going to be better than ever and we're excited to bring great family entertainment and hockey to our fans."

In addition to the new promotions, the first 5,000 fans in attendance at the Monarchs Home Opener on October 18 will receive a 2008-09 magnetic schedule, courtesy of Dunkin' Donuts, and the opportunity to win a new refrigerator. The annual New Year's Eve fireworks show will be held on Wednesday, December 31, following the Monarchs game against the Providence Bruins. Fans will have the opportunity to celebrate Valentine's Day with their sweetheart on Ladies' Night as the first 1,000 ladies will have the chance to win a diamond, courtesy of Bellman's Jewelers on February 14.

Max's Birthday celebration will be on Tuesday, February 24 while his friends and Monarchs fans wish him a Happy 8th Birthday.

The first 2,000 fans in attendance on March 7 will receive a raffle ticket for a chance to win a game-worn firefighter themed jersey as part of American Pride Night. The Monarchs are going green! On March 13, the first 2,000 fans will receive a reusable tote bag, courtesy of Delta Dental.

The Monarchs are proud to continue their Winning Weekdays promotion this season. When the Monarchs win at home on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday, fans now have the opportunity to redeem their game ticket for a free ticket for the next Winning Weekday game.

In addition, the Monarchs Care Foundation will continue to utilize its fans with its charitable efforts including the Teaming Up For Warmth Coat Drive where fans, in conjunction with E&R Cleaners, are encouraged to bring unwanted coats for families in need on Friday, November 7, and the Toys For Tots Toy Drive where fans can bring a new, unwrapped toy for children in need on Saturday, December 13. The Teddy Bear Toss on Friday, December 19, allows fans to throw stuffed animals onto the ice to be given to local charities and on Saturday, April 4, the Monarchs will collect non-perishable food items for the New Hampshire Food Bank as part of the Put Hunger On Ice Food Drive. The final home game of the regular season on Saturday, April 11 will feature the Monarchs annual Shirt Off Our Back promotion where the players' jerseys will be raffled off during the game and winners will meet the team when they receive their jersey at the end of the game.
