Monarchs Announce Protected Players List

MANCHESTER, N.H. - Manchester Monarchs Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations, Rich Seeley, announced the Monarchs protected players list for the 2016-17 season.

The Manchester Monarchs protected list includes:

Forwards: Darik Angeli, Mark Anthoine , Derek Arnold, Joey Diamond, Norm Ezekiel, Matt Fornataro, Gasper Kopitar, Zac Larraza, Matt Leitner, Troy Power, Tony Turgeon, Danick Paquette, Jonathan Parker, Matt White

Defensemen: Michael Boivin, Robbie Donahoe, Nolan Julseth-White, David Kolomatis, Matt MacKenzie, Jacob Middleton, Craig Wyszomirski

Goaltender: Doug Carr

The Monarchs protected list includes 20 players who skated for Manchester during the 2015-16 season and two players, Nolan Julseth-White and Norm Ezekiel who were qualified by the Monarchs. 12 of the listed players appeared for the Monarchs during the Kelly Cup Playoffs.

ECHL teams are allowed to protect as many players as they wish provided the players protected meet the guidelines as defined in the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the ECHL and the Professional Hockey Players' Association which states that teams shall retain the rights to each player that:

1. Signed an SPC in 2015-16 with the Member, and has not been traded or released.

2. Signed an SPC in 2015-16, and was recalled to the NHL/AHL or IIHF team, and has not been traded or released.

3. Had received a Qualifying Offer last summer for the current Season, DID NOT sign an SPC, and has not been traded or released.

4. Has been suspended by the Member or League, and has not been traded or released.

5. Signed an SPC on or after the first day of the 2015-16 Regular Season, then subsequently signed an NHL/AHL contract, and has not been traded or released.

6. Has executed the ECHL Retirement Form, and has not been traded or released.

The Monarchs and all ECHL teams must complete all Future Consideration trades by 3:00 p.m. EST on June 13, in advance of the submission of season-ending rosters. All season-ending rosters are due to the ECHL by June 15, 2016. Season-ending rosters may include up to 20 players and cannot include any players who did not sign an ECHL contract in 2015-16.
