MANCHESTER, NH - The Manchester Monarchs, the primary affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings, have donated $1,000 scholarships to the Manchester Police Athletic League (MPAL) in Manchester to purchase new equipment and to the Manchester Boys and Girls Club in Manchester for their second annual Day for Kids Expo as part of their Investing In Our Youth grant program, the team announced on Friday.

Through the program, the Monarchs Care Foundation, the charitable arm of the Monarchs, is able to award two different $1,000 scholarships each month. One of the scholarships goes to a deserving youth sports team. The other scholarship goes to a deserving school organization.

The Monarchs are currently taking applications for the program. Athletic and educational organizations are encouraged to apply. For an Investing In Our Youth grant application, visit www.monarchshockey.com and click on "In The Community" or contact Cheryl Abbott, the Monarchs Senior Vice President at (603) 626-7825, extension 6102.

MPAL provides activities such as self-defense, football, basketball, cheerleading, boxing, tennis, bicycle safety and flag and drill team events for the youth in the city of Manchester. MPAL offers a hands-on approach to Crime Prevention in the community. By keeping youth involved in different activities, it is hoped that their energy will be focused toward these activities rather than inappropriate or criminal activities.

The Manchester Boys and Girls Club's second annual Day for Kids Expo will be on Saturday, September 15 and is an event that fosters stronger relationships between adults and children. The mission of this annual event is to establish a day to celebrate and honor children through the gift of meaningful time.

The time is now to join one of the biggest, loudest and proudest families in the AHL! Become a resident of Monarchs Country by purchasing a 40, 20 or 10-game ticket plan now! Call (603) 626-7825 and ask for an Account Executive to discuss the ticket plan that's right for you!
