
Houston Aeros agree to terms with G Barry Brust

HOUSTON, Texas - The American Hockey League's Houston Aeros have agreed to terms with goalie Barry Brust for the 2007-08 season, the team announced Friday. Brust, a third-round selection by the Minnesota Wild in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft, has spent most of the last two seasons with the AHL's Manchester Monarchs.
Brust, 24 (8/8/83), played in a total of 29 games last season including 11 with the NHL's Los Angeles Kings, tallying a record of 2-4-1 with a goals against average (GAA) of 3.70 and a .891 save percentage. He also played in 18 games with the AHL's Manchester Monarchs posting a record of 9-7-0 with a 2.40 GAA and a .923 save percentage. Brust earned a 2-1 record in five Calder Cup Playoff appearances with a 1.81 GAA and a .937 save percentage.
Brust, a 6-foot-2, 235-pound native of Swan River, Mtb., split the 2005-06 season between the ECHL's Reading Royals and AHL Manchester. In 35 games with the Monarchs, Brust tallied a 19-14-1 regular season record with a 2.71 GAA and stopping 971 of 1060 shots for a .916 save percentage. He played in six games with the Royals, earning a 3-3-0 record with a 3.00 GAA and .906 save percentage. Brust played 42 games for Reading in the 2004-05 season, tallying a 27-9-4 mark and recording career-bests of a 1.96 GAA and .928 save percentage.
Having played in 53 career AHL games, Brust sports a regular season record of 28-21-1 with a GAA of 2.61 and a .918 save percentage. Prior to his pro career, Brust played four seasons in the WHL, 2000-04, with Spokane and Calgary.
