
Monarchs announce July Investing In Our Youth winners

Webster Elementary School and Salem Youth Hockey each receive $1,000 grants from the team
MANCHESTER, NH - The Manchester Monarchs, the primary affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings, have donated $1,000 scholarships to Webster Elementary School for an Anthro Notebook Cart and to Salem Youth Hockey for the purchase of checking dummies as part of their Investing In Our Youth grant program, the team announced on Tuesday. Through the program, the Monarchs Care Foundation, the charitable arm of the Monarchs, is able to award two different $1,000 scholarships each month. One of the scholarships goes to a deserving youth sports teams. The other scholarship goes to a deserving school organization.
The Monarchs are currently taking applications for the program. Athletic and educational organizations are encouraged to apply. Webster Elementary School provides approximately 275 students in third through fifth grade access to 19 laptops. The school is planning to use its Investing In Our Youth grant money to purchase an Anthro Notebook Cart in order to give students in first and second grade along with English Language Learner (ELL) students access to the laptops. The Anthro Notebook Cart holds and charges up to 18 computers at one time, provides the convenience of a mobile computer classroom and is a secure location to store the laptops with heavy-duty lockable doors. Webster School is one of four Magnet schools in Manchester and they have 74 ELL students enrolled representing 24 countries.
Salem Youth Hockey provides hockey programs to the youth of Salem ranging in age from four to 17 and plan to use their Investing In Our Youth grant money to purchase the A.C.E. Checkmate checking dummies. A.C.E. Checkmate is a mobile or stationary teaching devise used to teach young children checking techniques.
The New Hampshire Union-Leader is a media sponsor for the Monarchs Investing In Our Youth grant program.

Monarchs Promote From Within McNevich and Bergeron move into new positions
MANCHESTER, NH - The Manchester Monarchs, the top affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings, today announced the promotion of Christopher McNevich as the club's Season Ticket Sales Manager and Jason Bergeron as the club's Group Ticket Sales Manager. McNevich began his career with the Monarchs as an Account Executive before assuming the position of Public Relations Director in August of 2001. A native of North Conway, McNevich returned to the sales staff as a Senior Account Executive in August 2002. Prior to joining the Monarchs, he worked for the AHL's Portland Pirates.
Bergeron joined the Monarchs staff as an Account Executive in August 2002 and was promoted to Senior Account Executive in August of 2004. A native of Manchester, New Hampshire, he graduated from Nichols College in Dudley, Massachusetts, with a Bachelor's degree in Business Management and a minor in Economics.
