
Predators Sign Haydar, Gamache and Zanon

Nashville Predators Executive Vice President/General Manager David Poile announced today that the club has agreed to terms with forwards Simon Gamache, Darren Haydar, and defenseman Greg Zanon. All three players have played for the Milwaukee Admirals last season.
Gamache, 24 (1/3/81), was named a First Team AHL All-Star in 2004-05 after leading the Admirals and ranking fifth in the AHL in scoring (29g-57a-86pts). The 5-10, 180-pound Thetford Mines, Que. native also led the Admirals in goals, assists and power-play goals (16) and tied for first with six game-winning goals. Gamache, who was acquired by Nashville from Atlanta with Kirill Safronov for Ben Simon and Tomas Kloucek on Dec. 2, 2001, appeared in seven games with the Predators in 2003-04 and scored his first NHL goal on Jan. 8, 2004 vs. Colorado.
Haydar, 25 (10/22/79), finished second on the Ads roster in goals (24) and was third in points (24g-26a-50pts) in 2004-05. The 5-9, 166-pound winger also tallied seven points (3g-4a) in seven playoff games for the Ads. In 2003-04, the Toronto native led the AHL in playoff goals (11) and playoff points (11g-15a-26pts) as he helped the Admirals capture their first Calder Cup Championship. Now entering his fourth pro season, Haydar tied for Milwaukee's team lead in scoring in 2003-04 (22g-37a-59pts) and led the team in 2002-03 (29g-46a-75pts) when he was honored with the Dudley (Red) Garrett Memorial Award as the AHL's most outstanding rookie.
Zanon, 25 (6/5/80), was one of three Admirals to play in all 80 games in 2004-05. The Burnaby, B.C. native, who was also a member of Milwaukee's 2004 Calder Cup team, led the AHL with a +10 rating in the 2004 playoffs and led AHL rookies with a +30 mark in 2003-04. The 5-11, 211-pound backliner was signed as a free agent by Nashville on July 9, 2004.
The Admirals begin the 2005-06 season on Oct. 8 at Grand Rapids. The home opener will take place on Friday, Oct. 14 at 7:00 pm at the Bradley Center. Fans can purchase season tickets by calling (414) 227-0550.
