
Monarchs Add Clifford To Roster

MANCHESTER, NH - The Manchester Monarchs, the primary affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings, signed left wing Kyle Clifford to an amateur tryout agreement, Monarchs Director of Hockey Operations Hubie McDonough announced today.
Clifford, 19, collected a career-high 57 points (28-2957) in 58 games with the Ontario Hockey League's Barrie Colts this season. His 111 penalty minutes during the regular season ranked fourth on the team. In 17 playoff games with the Colts, the 6-foot-1, 200-pound native of Ayr, Ontario registered 14 points (5-914) and 28 penalty minutes.
During the 2008-09 season, Clifford recorded 28 points (16-1228) and 133 penalty minutes in 60 regular season games for the Colts. His 133 penalty minutes were third on the team and ranked 19th in the OHL. In five playoff games, he recorded zero points and 13 penalty minutes.
Internationally, Clifford represented Team Canada at the 2009 Under-18 World Championships. In six games, he had zero points and a team-leading 16 penalty minutes, as Canada finished fourth in the tournament. His 16 penalty minutes were tied for 11th most in the tournament.
Selected by the Kings in the second-round (35th overall) in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, Clifford signed a three-year entry-level contract with Los Angeles on September 22, 2009. He will wear No. 12 for the Monarchs.
