"MLS is Back Tournament" Schedule Set

NEW YORK, N.Y. - New York City FC will open the "MLS is Back Tournament" against the Philadelphia Union at 9:00 a.m. ET on July 9 (ESPN, ESPN Deportes, TSN).

On July 14, the Club will face Orlando City SC at 10:30 p.m. ET (TUDN, TSN) and then round out the group stage against Chicago Fire FC on July 19 at 8:00 p.m. ET (FS1, TUDN, TSN).

Additionally, MLS announced a change to the tournament's competition structure which impacts NYCFC as the Club is part of Group A. The top three teams from Group A will now advance to the Knockout Stage. Previously, only the top two teams would have advanced. Those three teams will be joined by the top two teams from the remaining five groups, as well as the next three highest ranked teams from the Group Stage (the fourth-placed team in Group A is eligible to advance) based on points, goal difference, goals for, fair play points.

Should NYCFC advance, the Club will continue on into the Knockout Stage with eight Round of 16 matches, played as doubleheaders on four consecutive evenings (July 25-28), followed by four quarterfinal matches (July 30-Aug 1), two semifinal games (Aug. 5-6) and the MLS is Back Tournament Final on August 11 at 8:00 p.m. ET (ESPN/ESPN Deportes/TSN). The tournament champion will earn a spot in the 2021 Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League.

The Club is scheduled to travel to Orlando, FL on Saturday, June 27.

NYCFC will then play FC Dallas in a friendly match a week later on Saturday, July 4 which will provide the team with a competitive match in anticipation of the first game during the Group Stage.
