Rapids to Debut July 12 as MLS Reveals Schedule for MLS Is Back Tournament

On Wednesday, Major League Soccer revealed the schedule for the MLS is Back Tournament, set to begin July 8. The Rapids are poised to be featured for the first time on Sunday, July 12 at 8:30 PM, when the club takes on its Rocky Mountain Cup rival Real Salt Lake on ESPN.

Colorado will then take on Sporting Kansas City on Friday, July 17 at 6 PM and then will round out the group stage with a match against Minnesota United FC on Wednesday, July 22 at 8:30 PM. All three games will be broadcast on ESPN, ESPN Deportes, ESPN app and TSN.

All 54 matches of the tournament will be televised nationally. Play begins on July 8 when Orlando City SC faces Inter Miami CF at 6 PM, followed by Chicago Fire FC vs Nashville SC at 8:30 PM. Check out the full tournament schedule here.

The group stage presented by Heineken will take place from July 8-July 24. The top two teams from the Rapids group will advance onto the Round-of-16, as well as the remaining top three teams determined by points, goal difference, goals for and fair play points.

The tournament will continue in the Knockout Stage presented by Audi with eight matches played as doubleheaders on four consecutive evenings (July 25-28), followed by four quarterfinal matches (July 30-Aug 1), two semifinal games (Aug. 5-6) and the MLS is Back Tournament Final on August 11 at 8 p.m. ET (ESPN/ESPN Deportes/TSN). The tournament champion will earn a spot in the 2021 Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League.
