MLS Heineken Rivalry Week to Showcase Classic Matches and Groundbreaking New Digital Fan Experiences

NEW YORK, N.Y. (Monday) - Major League Soccer is teaming with its media partners in the U.S., Canada and throughout the world, in addition to premium beer brand Heineken®, to bring more than 20 thrilling classic matches to fans as the League celebrates MLS Heineken® Rivalry Week.

From reminiscing rivalry matchups to reliving unforgettable memories, MLS Heineken® Rivalry Week will virtually bring together soccer's passionate fan bases as the league's oldest foes and newest rivalries celebrate the sport from May 11-17 with matches airing on ESPN2, ESPN Deportes, FS1, TUDN, TSN, TVA Sports, MLSsoccer.com and more.

Beginning today at 4 p.m. ET, MLSsoccer.com, MLS YouTube, MLS Facebook and MLS Twitter accounts will kick off the week of historic rivalry games with the 2019 #HellisReal Derby match between FC Cincinnati and Columbus Crew SC.

Two matches during the week will feature the special MLS Classics: Remix production providing fans an enhanced global broadcast experience. Current players, MLS Greats, and, for the first time, fans will join MLSsoccer.com talent, including Andrew Wiebe and Stephen Keel to provide unique insights and perspectives on these unforgettable matches.

Throughout the week, MLS digital and social channels will celebrate rivalries though exclusive content and unique experiences, including live chats with MLS stars, rivalry-themed trivia nights, and more. MLS's flagship programs, including Player Chat Live, The Kickaround, Extratime driven by Continental, and The Call Up, will also highlight rivalry-themed content and host a variety of fan-engagement opportunities.

In addition to the classic matches and programming, the culmination of the eMLS Tournament Special presented by Coca-Cola® and PlayStation® airs on Sunday, May 17 on FS1 and TSN2 at 6 p.m. ET. New esports rivalries are anticipated to emerge when Atlanta United and Los Angeles Football Club join Sporting Kansas City and New York City FC on the digital pitch in Sunday's EA SPORTS™ FIFA 20 Championship competition.

Fans can join the conversation on social media using #RivalryWeek, the official Heineken® Rivalry Week hashtag.
