ROSEMONT, Ill. - Chicago Dogs right-handed pitcher Michael Bowden has been selected as the American Association's Pointstreak Pitcher of the Week for the week ending in June 13.

Bowden, a 12-year veteran who spent six seasons in Major League baseball, went 2-0 in his two starts during the Dogs' seven-game road trip through Sioux City and Milwaukee.

On Tuesday in Sioux City, Bowden pitched six innings, carrying a no-hitter into the fifth inning. He allowed just one hit and no runs, while striking out seven and walking one.

He followed it up with a gem on Sunday against the Milwaukee Milkmen, dealing five nearly flawless innings with one run and two hits. Bowden struck out five batters and walked two.

On the season, Bowden has racked up a 3-1 record, 2.86 ERA and a .92 WHIP while allowing a .184 batting average. His ERA ranks fifth in the American Association among starters.

Bowden is a Chicagoland native who graduated from Waubonsie Valley High School. In 2005, the Boston Red Sox selected him in the first round (47th overall) of the MLB Draft. Bowden rocketed up the Red Sox system and made his Major League debut in August 2008.

In 2012, Bowden was traded to the Chicago Cubs and made 64 appearances as a Cub.

Prior to joining the Dogs, Bowden also pitched for the Seibu Lions in Japan and with the Korean Baseball Organization's Doosan Bears, for whom he pitched a no-hitter in June 2016.

Bowden has also logged time with the Orioles, Twins and Dodgers organizations and with the High Point Rockers of the Atlantic League.
