June 14, 2016 - West Coast League (WCL)
Gresham GreyWolves News Release

In the first full week of league play for the Gresham GreyWolves, outfielder Jeffrey Mitchell Jr. was named West Coast League Player of the Week, as announced by the league office and president Donnie Marbut on Monday. Mitchell Jr. becomes the GreyWolves' first player in franchise history to earn WCL weekly recognition.

From the league: "Mitchell went 11-for-20 (.550) with 7 runs scored, 5 RBIs and a double, triple and stolen base over the GreyWolves first week of WCL baseball, as Gresham started the season 3-3. The native of Pleasant Hill, California made 25 appearances and totaled 26 at bats in his freshman season at Cal Berkley."

Mitchell is the only player in the West Coast League to be batting over .500 on the young season. In addition to leading the league in average, Mitchell Jr. is also among the league leaders in on-base percentage (.625, 1st), slugging percentage (.700, 1st), runs scored (8, t-3rd) and RBIs (5, t-8th).

The GreyWolves' outfielder began WCL play with a bang, going 4-for-5 with three runs scored and four RBIs in Gresham's victory over Cowlitz. He has a hit in all six conference games to begin the season, including back-to-back multi-hit games in Games 1 and 2 vs. Yakima Valley on Thursday and Friday.

After the first three road games of the season at Victoria on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, the GreyWolves return to Oslund Field for a three-game series vs. Kelowna beginning on Friday. First pitch times for Friday and Saturday's game are set for 7:05 p.m., with Sunday's finale scheduled for a 5:05 p.m. start time. Tickets start at just $8 and are available by going to GreshamGreyWolves.com and clicking on "Tickets".
