MISSOULA, MT - Not the night they were hoping for, the Missoula Osprey (19-18) drop the series finale to Idaho Falls (20-15), 15-2, on Wednesday night at Ogren Park at Allegiance Field. The O's loss removes them from contention for a first-half title, giving the Chukars the post-season bid.
Idaho Falls RHP Stephen Ridings (W, 3-3) tossed six innings, allowing two runs on five hits, striking out nine. Missoula starter Bobby Ay (L, 01-) allowed three runs in his lone inning on the mound.
Idaho Falls scored the first seven runs of the ball game before the Osprey found the scoreboard in the bottom of the 5th , with DH Francis Martinez launching his eighth home run this year.
Despite only two runs, all but two Osprey batters recorded a hit. Catcher Axel Andueza led the way on a 2-4 night, extending his hit streak to twelve-straight games.
Osprey RHP Dustin Lacaze shouldered most of the runs from the Chukars, giving up six runs on eight hits, while striking out seven in 4.1 innings of work.
Fellow right-hander - and newest Osprey member - Mitchell Stumpo made his professional debut for Missoula, earning a strikeout in an inning on the mound.
A four-game series begins on Thursday night for the Osprey, welcoming the Billings Mustangs to town to kick off the second half of the 2019 Pioneer League season. Thursday night is Happy Hour night at Ogren Park, with food and drink specials from gates opening at 6:00pm, to first pitch at 7:05.
All Osprey game tickets can be purchased at the MSO Hub Box Office, located at 140 North Higgins in Downtown Missoula, online at MissoulaOsprey.com and by phone (406) 543-3300.
