
Missoula Completes Sweep of Voyagers

Missoula, MT - The Voyagers allowed a season-high 18 base hits in a 10-2 loss to the Osprey Sunday night at Ogren Park.
Great Falls (23-26, 1-10) has lost seven straight games, and dropped to 1-7 at Missoula this season. The Voyagers are now 5-8 against the Osprey in the overall season series. They fell to 7-17 on the road. Missoula (25-24, 6-5) has won four straight, and is a division-best 16-8 at home after the three-game sweep.
Missoula opened the scoring in a big way with three in the 1st and six more in the 2nd. Zack Shannon produced an RBI single for the game's first run. Cesar Garcia posted a two-run single for a 3-0 cushion early. The Osprey sent 11 men to the plate in the 2nd. Alek Thomas drove in the first run with a double into right-center. Blaze Alexander had an RBI single. Buddy Kennedy registered and infield RBI single. Zack Shannon delivered an RBI single. Another run scored on a fielder's choice for Eddie Hernandez. And, the final run of the frame scored on a Garcia single.
The Voyagers used a two-out rally to plate both their runs in the top of the 4th. Amado Nunez was hit by a pitch. Romy Gonzalez then singled on a line drive to left. Alex Destino brought both runners home with a double grounded hard up the right field line and into the corner.
The Osprey outhit Great Falls 18-to-6. For the Voyagers, Alex Destino went 2-for-3 with a single and a double. Destino reached a third time with a hit-by-pitch. The only other extra-base hit was a double by Bryce Bush to open the game in the 1st.
On the mound, Jacob Stevens picked up the win in relief for Missoula. Stevens (1-0) went two innings in relief and gave up just one hit with one strikeout and one walk. Devon Perez took the loss for the Voyagers. Perez (1-1) made his first pro start and went one-and-a-third with nine runs (seven earned) allowed on 10 hits.
