Mississippi Sea Wolves News Release

BILOXI, Miss. – Mississippi Sea Wolves general manager and coach Bob Woods announced today that he has signed free agent goaltender Brian Gallagher.

Gallagher, 22, helped Ohio University to the American Collegiate Hockey Association Division 1 Championship last season. The 6-foot and 180-pound Gallagher set single-season school records in 2003-04 with six shutouts, 1.63 goals against average and 23 victories. Named 2004 National Player of the Year for ACHA Division I, Gallagher compiled an overall record of 23-2-1. A native of Kent, Ohio, Gallagher enters his first year of professional hockey.

"It's a thrill to get a chance to play at a faster level of hockey," said Gallagher. "I had a great experience at Ohio University, highlighted by winning a championship. Over those three years, I gained a lot of mental discipline and I hope to carry that over to the ECHL."

"Brian brings some outstanding credentials and a championship background," said Woods. "I've heard good things about Gallagher, but just like the other two goaltenders coming into training camp (Randy Hevey and Jason Wolfe), I haven't seen him play. It's going to make for an interesting competition."

Gallagher becomes the third goaltender, joining Randy Hevey and Jason Wolfe, and the 20th overall to sign with Mississippi for the 2004-05 season. Seven defensemen have agreed to terms consisting of Chris Cava, Kerry Ellis-Toddington, Mike Jarmuth, Jason Kean, Mike Martone, Milt Mastad and Austin Miller. There are a group of 10 forwards signed to one-year deals comprised of Anthony Battaglia, Darryl Campbell, Nicolas Corbeil, Bobby Cunningham, Lucas Drake, Louis Dumont, Jeff Hutchins, Jay Legault, Travis Lisabeth and Tristan Lush.

The Sea Wolves get their ninth ECHL season underway at home on October 22 against the Louisiana IceGators at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum.

Season ticket packages are on sale by calling (228) 275-WOLF or online at msseawolves.com.
