Columbia Inferno News Release

COLUMBIA, SC (September 29, 2004) - The Columbia Inferno announced they are just under 2,000 tickets away from a first time sell-out crowd on opening night.

The Inferno open the 2004-05 season on Friday, October 22 at 7:30 PM against the South Carolina Stingrays. Individual tickets went on sale Tuesday, September 28th and the Inferno has already surpassed 4,277 tickets sold for the opener. This number includes season tickets, partial season tickets, group sales and walk-up sales. Columbia came close to a sell-out during the inaugural 2001 season, when 6,016 fans watched their first ever ECHL game. To completely sell-out the Carolina Coliseum it would take 6,231 tickets sold.

"With a strong group sales effort and help from our fans, we have made a decent push toward our goal of selling out our home opener," Director of Ticket Operations Clint Mylymok said. "Our objective as an organization is to create a fun environment for the fans and our players. What better way than to fill the Carolina Coliseum on opening night? A full house in itself always creates an enjoyable atmosphere."

With the NHL season on hold until a new collective bargaining agreement has been reached, the only professional hockey action fans will be able to watch in the Carolina's will be ECHL hockey. For season, partial and group tickets, call the Inferno office at 256-7825. Tickets are now on sale by calling 251-2222 or visiting the Carolina Coliseum Box Office. They are also available at Sounds Familiar locations in Columbia. Individual tickets range from $13-$19.
