San Antonio Missions News Release
LITTLE ROCK - Josh Naylor drove in seven runs and collected four hits to fuel the Missions doubleheader sweep over the Travelers Saturday evening at Dickey Stephens Park, 6-2 and 5-3.
Naylor slugged a pair of two-run homers within a span of two at-bats in the opener, matching his homerun total over the 42 games he played with San Antonio last year. He also made his first career start in left field.
Playing in his normal position at firstbase in the nightcap, he drove in three more runs, including a two-run double that served as the difference in the final score.
Logan Allen, rated as the Padres eighth best prospect, picked up the win in the second game, allowing just one run and a single hit over five innings. He battled his command at times by tying a career-high with four walks.
Miguel Diaz was the winner in the opener, working 2.1 innings in relief. Matt Strahm, making a rehab start for the Missions, struck out six batters in his two innings of work.
The two seven-inning games took just over five hours to complete under frigid conditions. The temperature in the nightcap dipped to 35 degrees.
