Missions Sweep Cards in Twin Bill

San Antonio Missions News Release


SPRINGFIELD-The Missions increased their South Division lead to 2 1/2 games thanks to a doubleheader sweep Monday night in front of 4,327 at Hammons Field.

Cody Overbeck homered twice and drove in four runs to help lead the Missions to an extra inning win in the opener in a game that featured six homeruns between the clubs. His solo blast in the 10th inning snapped a 6-6 tie.

San Antonio's bullpen held the Cardinals hitless over the final five innings of the opening game.

In the nightcap, Bryce Morrow allowed a pair of runs in six innings to pick up his first Double-A win.

Rob Kral provided a three-run double in the sixth and Adam Buschini's two-run single in the seventh provided insurance.

San Antonio completed its trip north by capturing five of six games.

Notebook: Buschini entered the series mired in 3-for-41 slump but collected seven hits, including three homers, and drove in six runs in the three game series....The Missions (44-38) are a season-high six games over .500
