CORPUS CHRISTI--Mark Appel (5-1) struck out six in a complete-game effort as the Hooks climbed 28 games over .500 (48-20) for the first time in team history.
San Antonio capitalized on a Hooks error to score an unearned run in the first inning.
Corpus Christi responded with an unearned run of its own in the bottom of the frame.
The Hooks used a sacrifice fly to score the go-ahead run in the third inning.
Game 2 - San Antonio 3, Corpus Christi 1
Hunter Renfroe clubbed a pair of solo homers to help San Antonio salvage a split of the double header.
It was the third time in his career that the former first-round pick homered twice in a game. Renfroe entered the contest with only three homers for the season.
A trio of Missions pitchers combined on a three-hitter.
Stephen Kohlscheen picked up the win while Tayron Guerrero notched his sixth save, five of which have been against the Hooks.
The win was just the fourth in the last 13 games for San Antonio.
NOTES: Renfroe is hitting .359 over his last 10 games...Sunday marked the first time in June that the Missions allowed three runs or less in consecutive games
