San Antonio Missions News Release

SPRINGDALE--The Naturals salvaged the series finale and spoiled the Missions bid for their first three game winning streak in three weeks Sunday afternoon in front of 3,667 at Arvest Ballpark.

San Antonio had a chance to sweep the series but finished 0x7 with runners in scoring position as they lost for the 13th time in the last 19 games.

Duanel Jones spoiled the shutout bid in the seventh inning with a run-scoring double.

NW Arkansas scored twice off Ryan Butler (0-3) in the third inning courtesy of Raul Mondesi's two-run double. Mondesi, the top-rated prospect in the Royals minor league system, is the son of former Mission and NL Rookie-of-the-Year, Raul Mondesi, Sr.

Aaron Northcraft bailed Butler out of a sixth inning jam by stranding a pair of inherited runners.

Sunday's loss marked the eighth time in the last 13 games that the Missions scored two runs or fewer.

San Antonio has today off before opening a six-game homestand on Tuesday night against the Arkansas Travelers.

NOTES: Trea Turner was hitless in four at-bats, ending his hitting streak at 16 games and his on-base streak at 29 straight....Despite going 2-4 on the trip, San Antonio's pitching staff allowed only 13 runs in six games

NEXT: Tuesday Arkansas Travelers (TBA) at Missions RHP Brandon Morrow (MLB rehab start) 7:05 PM
