MISSING KEY BATS, WORCESTER SPUTTERS
BROCKTON, MA--- Alex Trezza and Chris Colabello had been the only members of the Tornadoes lineup that had yet to enjoy a night off through sixty-one games. Tonight both bats were absent due to injury and Worcester dropped was shut out 3-0.
Brockton starter Wayne Lundgren (6-5) turned in his fifth complete game of the season for his sixth win; only the second during a complete outing. The Australian struck out six and did not walk a man scattering seven Worcester hits.
The Tornadoes actually out hit the Rox seven to five, however walks, pass balls, and wild pitches kept the Brockton lineup constantly on the base-paths. Ryan Quinn (0-2) walked eight and struck out five but was tagged for his second loss in three starts. Chris Anderson allowed a run in relief and PJ Thomas threw a scoreless eighth. Seven different Tornadoes had hits; they were all singles.
Tomorrow at 6:05 at Campanelli Stadium Worcester sends Chris Farley (4-2) fresh off his longest outing of the year (8IP) to stop the four game bleeding against Freddy Flores (3-2).
