Northern Colorado Owlz News Release

A misplayed fly ball in the top of the 9th off the bat of Chris Pettit dropped in for a two-RBI triple and gave the Owlz a dramatic 4-2 victory.

The Owlz got the leadoff man on in the frame and had runners on first and second with two outs when Pettit stepped to the plate.

Chris popped a 1-1 pitch in to mid-range centerfield, and it appeared we were headed to the bottom of the ninth tied at 2-2. However, Chukar centerfielder Joe Dickerson lost the ball in the lights as it fell over his head, dropping for a triple and giving the Owlz the lead.

Felipe Arredondo, who struck out two when he entered the game in the eighth, came back out to fan the side in the ninth, earning his first victory of the season and improving the Owlz record to 10-6. With the win, the Owlz pull even with Idaho Falls atop the Pioneer League South.

In addition to the game-winning triple in the ninth, Pettit had an RBI-single in the top of the first to give the Owlz an early 1-0 lead.

Idaho Falls would tie the game in the fourth with an RBI hit of their own.

The game would stay knotted until the top of the 8th, when catcher Ricky Bambino hit an 0-2 changeup into centerfield, scoring Pettit and giving the Owlz a 2-1 lead.

Idaho Falls, however, would tie the game in the bottom of the inning with another RBI single, sending the game to the ninth tied 2-2.

The same two teams complete the three-game set tomorrow night at 7:15 P.M before the Owlz head to Casper for a two-game set against the Rockies.
