Fort Myers Mighty Mussels News Release

FORT MYERS, F.L. (July 2, 2008) - Almost 24 hours to the minute after Deolis Guerra tossed a three-hit shutout against the Tampa Yankees on Tuesday, the Wednesday night version of the Fort Myers Miracle looked even better. The quartet of Tyler Robertson, Jose Lugo, Blair Erickson and Anthony Slama combined on a two-hitter in another 4-0 Miracle win at Hammond Stadium.

Robertson picked up his fifth win of the season with five innings of no-hit ball. Robertson walked two and fanned five in the victory. Lugo surrendered a one-out infield single to Eduardo Nunez in the sixth, apart of his 2 innings of work, before Erickson and Slama each faced four hitters in the eighth and ninth. Erickson picked up a strikeout in his inning of action while Slama worked around Seth Fortenberry's two-hit single in the ninth.

For the second straight night, the Miracle quickly put a run up in the first grabbing a 1-0 lead. Garrett Olson led off with a double down the left-field line and immediately came around on Steve Singleton's double for the one-run lead. A three spot in the bottom of the fifth gave the Miracle their final three runs in the 4-0 victory.

A one-out single by Olson began the rally before a walk to Yancarlos Ortiz put runners at first and second with two outs. A string of three-straight two-out hits by Danny Berg, Juan Portes and Edward Ovalle brought in Olson, Ortiz and Berg for the final four-run cushion.

The Miracle will look for their second-straight sweep of the Baby Bombers with a 7:05 p.m. contest on Thursday night. RHP Matt Fox (3-3, 3.95) will square off against RHP Ivan Nova (3-9, 5.10). Thursday will be the second "Independence Weekend Fireworks" show sponsored by Budweiser, TIB Bank, Scottrade, B103.9 and WJPT 106.3. A limited number of reserve seats still remain. The contest can be heard live on WMYR AM-1410 and WCNZ AM-1660 beginning at 6:50 p.m.
