Miracle Tie Game In Eighth, But Fall In Ninth, 3-2

KISSIMMEE, Fla. - The Fort Myers Miracle rallied for two runs in the eighth inning, but the Florida Fire Frogs scored once in the ninth to walk off, 3-2, on Saturday night at Osceola County Stadium.

Riley Delgado delivered the game-winning hit with two outs in the ninth. The ball glanced off the glove of a diving Ernie De La Trinidad in right.

Trailing 2-0 in the eighth, the Miracle tied the game on a Travis Blankenhorn RBI triple and a Mark Contreras sacrifice fly.

Delgado broke a scoreless game in the fifth with an RBI single to right. After a wild pitch, CJ Alexander poked one into left to give the Fire Frogs a 2-0 lead.

Michael Pineda pitched three scoreless innings in a rehab start. The right-hander scattered five hits and threw 33 pitches, 29 for strikes. He struck out three.

Bryan Sammons followed Pineda and allowed two runs in 2.2 innings of work. Alex Robinson pitched 1.2 scoreless innings before giving way to Colton Davis. Davis (1-3), suffered the loss after surrendering a run in 1.1 innings.

Walter Borkovich, who tossed five shutout innings in Fort Myers on August 4th, was even better on Saturday, holding the Miracle to four hits in six scoreless frames. The right-hander collected a no-decision after the Miracle tied the game off the Florida bullpen.

Chase Johnson-Mullins (1-0) earned his first win of the season with 1.2 scoreless innings of relief.

The four-game series concludes on Sunday morning in Kissimmee. Charlie Barnes will start for Fort Myers. First pitch is 11:00 a.m.
