Fort Myers Mighty Mussels News Release
FORT MYERS, FL (July 20, 2006) - For months people in Florida complained that it hadn't rained. There isn't much those people can say now with the amount of rain Southwest Florida has seen over the last few days.
The rain during the late afternoon on Thursday combined with the rain this past week made the grounds at Hammond Stadium too wet for a double header between the Fort Myers Miracle and Jupiter Hammerheads to take place. The two will play a double header on Friday evening beginning at 6:05 p.m. Both games are scheduled for seven innings. The second game will begin approximately 25 minutes at the conclusion of game one. The game that is lost because of Thursday nights wash out will be made up on August 14 at Roger Dean Stadium in Jupiter as part of a double header. Friday evening the Miracle send RHP Anthony Swarzak (5-6, 3.82) to the mound against Hammerheads LHP Matthew Goyen (2-1, 3.47). In game two the Miracle go with LHP Justin Jones (1-3, 5.33) against Hammerheads RHP Timothy Wood (1-3, 6.08). Gates open at 5:30 p.m. Happy Hour presented by Budweiser Select, Shoeless Joe's Sport s Café and WXKB 103.9 will take place from 6 p.m. - 7 p.m. with free hot dogs and chips and salsa and $1 soda and beer.
