Palm Beach Cardinals News Release
JUPITER, FL- The Palm Beach Cardinals never seemed to be interested in winning Thursday night's ball game, as the Tampa Yankees picked up their third straight win, 7-1, at Roger Dean Stadium.
Tampa lead-off hitter, Victor Hall, starting things off in the first inning with a ground rule double to right field. Hall would later score, as Cody Ehlers picked up his league-leading 82nd RBI, grounding out to second baseman Juan Lucena.
The Yankees really put this one out of reach in the third, scoring four runs on five hits. All of the hits in the inning were singles off of starter Nick Webber, with catcher Jared Greenwood knocking in the innings final run.
Webber (5-4) picked up the loss, giving up six runs, with only two being earned, over 6 1/3 innings. The loss is Webber's first in the month of July after picking up back-to-back victories over his last two starts.
Tampa starter Brett Smith (7-7) breezed through seven frames, allowing only one run, on three hits. The Cardinals didn't grab their first hit until the bottom of the seventh, as Cody Rasmus singled up the middle with one out.
