MINOT, ND, January 11, 2007 - One night after erupting for its largest victory of the season, the Pittsburgh Xplosion (2-16) were held to a season-low scoring output, as the Minot Sky Rockets (9-10) swept all four quarters en route to a 100-83 victory in Continental Basketball Association action at the Minot Municipal Auditorium. Kevin Pittsnogle led the Xplosion with 18 points. Shawn Hawkins chipped in with 15.
The Black and Gold started the game quickly and it looked like it might be a repeat of Wednesday night's affair as the Xplosion jumped out to a 12-2 lead in the first quarter. The Sky Rockets, however would make adjustments and outscore Pittsburgh 27-9 the rest of the frame to claim the opening stanza, 29-21.
Minot squeaked out the second (25-24) and third (21-19) quarter to extend its lead and pulled away in the fourth quarter to secure the 100-83 win.
The Sky Rockets outrebounded the Xplosion 62-44 and made and attempted 11 more free throws then the Black and Gold.
Marvin Phillips and Marc Williams also reached double figures for Pittsburgh chipping in 12 points apiece.Minot was led by Steve Castleberry's 25 point, 14 rebound performance.
The Xplosion next take to the floor against Indiana on Sunday, January 14 at 4:35 PM at the WigWam.
