Albany, NY - January 11, 2007 - The Patroons most recent CBA transactions include the signing of F Chris Sockwell, G Tony Harris, and F Greg Morton.
Sockwell played for the college of St. Francis and also for Jim Thorpe high school. Chris is originally from Brooklyn, New York. He was a positive contributer for the Patroons during the 2005-6 season, as he took second in the league in field goal percentage at 63%. Sockwell will wear jersey #44.
After leaving the University of Tennessee as only the third player in SEC history to score 1,500 career points and notch 500 career assists, Tony Harris played for several different minor league franchises, including two years with the USBL's Brevard Blue Ducks and Oklahoma Storm. His previous CBA experience includes stints with the Rockford Lightning and Great Lakes Storm in the 2003-04 season. In 1997, Harris was a high school All-American, appearing on the All-American lists of McDonald's, Parade and USA Today. Harris will wear jersey #4.
Greg joins the Patroons after stints in several domestic and international leagues. In the US, Morton suited up in 2004 for the USBL's Brooklyn Kings, and in 2005 for the USBL's New Jersey Flyers. He also played five games for the New Jersey SkyCats of the ABA, averaging 9.8 points and 4.4 rebounds in five games. Greg's last stop before Albany was as a member of Tanqueros del Zulia in Venezuela, as well as a stint in the Bogota Elite Cup in Colombia, where he averaged 16 points and 8 rebounds. Morton will wear jersey #45
The Albany Patroons have also placed G Kwan Johnson on Injured Reserve.
