LAKEWOOD, N.J. - Fans attending Minor League Baseball games around the country have always been able to find wholesome, family entertainment available at affordable prices, and the Lakewood BlueClaws have always tried to provide that to local residents.

Now, even though the economy is struggling, Minor League Baseball will continue to be one of the best bargains around.

According to a recent survey of 160 Minor League Baseball clubs in the US and Canada, the average cost for a family of four to enjoy a game is just $54.54, and a night at FirstEnergy Park to enjoy a BlueClaws game is even more affordable at roughly $49.

"Minor League Baseball continues to lead the way in providing affordable family entertainment to sports fans," said Minor League Baseball President Pat O'Conner. "We're proud of our ability to serve our fans with reasonable pricing and great value in difficult economic times like these."

The survey is based on the price of two adult tickets, two child tickets, four hot dogs, two sodas, two beers, a program, and parking.

The BlueClaws will provide all children, ages 12 and under, a free hot dog, chips, and soda at all 2009 home games, thanks to ShopRite. The program is the first-of-its-kind in Minor League Baseball. Further, all fans at FirstEnergy Park receive a free game program, the "Catch of the Day," which enters its third season.

"We weren't at all surprised by this survey," said BlueClaws General Manager Geoff Brown. "Further, we're glad that the BlueClaws fall in the most affordable half of what already is an affordable industry."

In their eight years of play, the BlueClaws have drawn more than 3.5 million fans to FirstEnergy Park, leading the South Atlantic League in each year of existence. The team has also seen 25 former players reach the Major Leagues, including 2006 National League MVP Ryan Howard and 2008 World Series MVP Cole Hamels.
