Minnesota Lynx News Release
- After earning their 12th win in the 31st game last season, the Lynx are currently 12-4, tops in the WNBA, and have won seven of their last eight games. The win also gave the Lynx their first series win against the Seattle Storm since going 3-1 against them in 2003. It was the first time this season the Storm have given up 90 or more points.
- Tonight's win is Minnesota's ninth double-digit win of the season after recording nine double-digit victories in the last two seasons combined. The Lynx entered tonight's game leading the WNBA with a +8.1 point differential, which would be the highest point differential in the league since 2001 (Los Angeles, +8.6).
- As a team, the Lynx shot 56.3% percent from the field tonight, despite the Storm entering the game as one of the WNBA's stingiest defenses, holding opponents to a league-low 70.4 points per game and 41.5% shooting, third in the league. Seattle held the high-powered Phoenix Mercury to only 77 points just three nights ago.
- With a 16-point performance tonight, Seimone Augustus needs 87 points to reach the 3,000 point mark. If she can reach that mark in the next four games, she will become the fastest player in WNBA history to reach the mark. Augustus entered the night averaging 20.0 in July on 55.9% shooting.
- After falling behind by three in the first quarter, the Lynx rallied with a 19-2 run to take a 14-point lead. The run lasted nearly five and a half minutes and after a 9-2 run extended their lead to 20 in the second quarter, the Lynx never looked back, cumulating in a 32-point lead during the foutrh quarter. This was the third time this season the Lynx have taken a 30-point lead, second time against Seattle.
- After outscoring their last two opponents by a combined 63 points off of 42 turnovers, the Lynx continued to take advantage of their opponents' miscues tonight, totaling 25 points off of 18 Storm turnovers. This was the third straight game the Lynx have totaled 20+ points off opponents turnovers.
- Minnesota finished the game with seven different Lynx scoring seven or more points, led by Augustus' team-high 16. Minnesota entered tonight with four players ranking in the top-26 in the league in scoring (Augustus, Brunson, Moore, Whalen).
- Candice Wiggins finished the game with a team-high 16 points off the bench, including draining five-of-eight from beyond the arc. The five treys matched her career-high (6/30/11 at Tulsa).
