After trailing 44-40 at the halftime break, the Lynx came out and outscored Phoenix 29-9 in the third quarter on the way to taking the 83-69 victory. Minnesota has now won 13 of its last 14 games vs. Phoenix, including six in a row at Talking Stick Resort Arena.
Tonight's win guarantees a ninth consecutive season with a winning record. No other franchise has strung together more than Houston's seven from 1997 through 2003.
Odyssey Sims scored 11 of her game-high 22 points in the third quarter of tonight's victory. Sims added five rebounds and a game-high nine assists. Tonight marked just the eighth time in franchise history and third time this season in the WNBA (Brittney Griner and Courtney Williams) a player has had 20+ points/5+ rebounds/8+ assists in a single game.
Tonight also marked Sims' league leading fifth 20+ point/8+ assist game.
Sylvia Fowles passed Tamika Catchings (3316) for second all-time on the WNBA's all-time rebounding list after grabbing her fifth rebound of the night with 9:11 left in the third quarter. Fowles (3323) only trails Rebekkah Brunson (3356) for the top spot. Tonight marked her 14th double-double of the season (163rd career) after adding 11 points. Fowles also added a season-high-tying four blocks on the night.
Napheesa Collier finished with 14 points on 5-of-10 shooting, marking her 14th straight game in double-figures.
Minnesota shot 52.5% (32-of-61) from the field tonight. Since the start of 2011, the Lynx are now 78-3 when topping 50%.
