
Minnesota Lynx Sign Guard Nika Baric

MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL - The Minnesota Lynx today announced the team has signed guard Nika Baric. Per team policy, terms of the agreements were not disclosed.
"We excited to welcome Nika to the Minnesota Lynx organization," said Lynx Executive Vice President Roger Griffith. "She is a great shooter and will add depth to our backcourt this season."
Baric, 22, was originally selected by the Lynx in the second round (20th overall) of the 2012 WNBA Draft. A 5-7 guard from Slovenia, Baric currently plays for Sparta&K in the Russian league where she has appeared in 13 games, averaging 11.2 points, 3.5 assists and 2.3 rebounds per game.
Prior to being drafted by the Lynx in 2012, Baric played alongside Lynx guard Seimone Augustus with Sparta&K in Russia and appeared in 20 Euroleague games, averaging 3.2 points, 1.2 assists and 1.0 rebounds in 12.3 minutes per contest. She appeared in 26 Russian League games, averaging 4.9 points, 2.3 assists and 1.0 rebounds in 15.5 minutes per game while shooting 42.1 percent from the field.
Additionally, Baric represented Slovenia in the 2010 FIBA U18 European Championship where she was named the MVP of the tournament after averaging 23.3 points, 5.9 assists and 4.0 rebounds to lead Slovenia to its first-ever U18 Women's European Final Four. In 2011, she appeared in the FIBA U19 World Championship and averaged 13.7 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.3 assists.
