This Week's Opponents - Sacramento, Phoenix, Seattle

The Lynx head to the west coast this week hoping to rebound after suffering their first loss of the season Friday night at the hands of the Seattle Storm. Minnesota began the week with a 87-76 victory over Los Angeles, a game that included 16 lead changes. Friday's game was kicked off by a special ceremony to honor head coach Jennifer Gillom's induction into the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame.

The Lynx will first take on the Sacramento Monarchs Tuesday night in Sacramento. The Monarchs have won seven of the last nine contest between the two teams. In last season's lone Lynx victory, Seimone Augustus led all scorers with 23 points and also snatched six rebounds. Candice Wiggins came off the bench to add 17 points for the Lynx as well.

The Lynx will then head to Phoenix Wednesday night to take on Diana Taurasi and the Mercury. The Lynx beat the Mercury early in the season in 2008 before losing the next two. In the first match-up between the teams Augustus led the Lynx with 22 points while Charde Houston added 18 and Wiggins scored 17 in a 94-83 win.

Minnesota will close out its road trip in Seattle, looking to get revenge on the Seattle Storm. Last Friday the Storm topped the Lynx as Lauren Jackson recorded 22 points and 11 rebounds for her first double-double of the season. Houston led the Lynx with 18 points on 8-12 (.750 FG%) shooting.

Head Coach Jennifer Gillom Enters the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame Lynx head coach Jennifer Gillom was inducted into the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame on Saturday in Knoxville, Tennessee. Gillom was a pioneer for the WNBA when the league first formed and was invited to play in the very first WNBA All-Star game in 2000. During her time in the WNBA Gillom averaged 13.4 points and 4.5 rebounds in seven seasons.

Seimone Augustus Earns Player of the Week Award

Lynx forward Seimone Augustus was awarded the Western Conference Player of the Week award for her play during the WNBA's opening week. In a span of four games Augustus led the Lynx with 21.8 points a game as Minnesota started the season 3-1. Augustus was also ranked first in WNBA.COM's initial player rankings for their "Race to the MVP."

All-Star Ballot

Fans can now vote for their favorite WNBA players to play in the 2009 WNBA All-Star game located in Connecticut. Fans can log onto WNBA.com to cast their votes. Kelly Miller, Renee Montgomery, Candice Wiggins, Seimone Augustus and Nicky Anosike represent the Lynx on the ballot.
