
Miners Take Second Game of Series

The Sussex County Miners continued to play solid baseball as they won their fifth straight in a 7-3 decision over New Jersey. After falling behind 1-0 through three innings of play, the Miners put it in high gear as they tallied four runs over the next two to take control and cruise to their 40th victory of the year.
The Miners pounded out 13 hits in the contest with four batters having multi-hit games. Sussex County 3B Martin Figueroa went 3-for-5 with a home run, three runs scored and an RBI while DH Mikey Reynolds had two hits in four at-bats along with two runs scored and an RBI. First baseman Audy Ciriaco also chipped in three hits and C Luis Alen contributed a pair of hits and three runs batted in for Sussex County.
Starting pitcher Michael Wagner tossed six strong innings and won his first contest with the Miners. Wagner gave up an earned run on seven hits and struck out eight batters.
For New Jersey, 3B Seth Spivey went 3-for-4 with two runs scored.
