Harrisburg Senators News Release

Tom Milone racked up a season-high thirteen strikeouts, gave up just one run over six and two-thirds innings, and got ample help from his offense in leading the Harrisburg Senators to a 10-1 victory over the Erie SeaWolves on Wednesday evening at Metro Bank Park.  The win pulled the Senators (64-58) to within one game of the Bowie Baysox in the race for the second and final playoff berth in the Eastern League's Western Division.

Milone (10-5) was superb for the Senators, striking out thirteen and walking none in earning the win.  The Sens also collected fourteen hits, including four from Chris Marrero.  Marrero went four-for-five on the game, driving in four runs and scoring two.  He also hit a two-run home run in the first inning which gave the Senators their first two runs of the ballgame.  Devin Ivany added three hits, including two doubles, and drove in two runs of his own.  Jesus Valdez finished with two hits, an RBI, and two runs scored.  Stephen Lombardozzi, Josh Johnson, Michael Burgess, Ofilio Castro, and Tim Pahuta each had one hit.  Pahuta's hit was a two-run home run which doubled the Senators lead to 4-0, in the fourth inning.

Erie (55-68) scored its only run in the fifth inning, when Brandon Jones doubled in Alden Carrithers, who had doubled with one out.  The Senators quickly answered that run, with three in the bottom of the fifth.  Ivany drove in two with his second double, and Brad Coon drove in the other run with a groundout to second base.  Valdez hit a solo shot in the sixth to increase the lead to 8-1, and then Marrero singled in two more runs in the eighth to complete the scoring.  Erie starter Brooks Brown gave up the first seven Senators runs, and took the loss to fall to 11-8.

Thursday marks the series finale between the two teams, with the first pitch scheduled for 7 PM.  Right-hander Ryan Tatusko (0-1, 3.38) starts for the Senators, against LHP Duane Below (4-12, 5.12) of the SeaWolves.  Fans can hear all the action by tuning in to 1460 AM The Ticket or logging on to www.senatorsbaseball.com, starting with the pregame show at 6:45 PM.
