Des Moines Buccaneers News Release
The Des Moines Buccaneers will be home at Buccaneer Arena this Friday, February 12th for Miller Lite Night and Saturday, February 13th, followed by a Post-game Skate w/the Bucs. It is the last time during the 2015-2016 season the Buccaneers have two home games in one weekend.
On Friday the Lincoln Stars come to Des Moines for the fourth and final time in the regular season and the Buccaneers hold a 4-2 season series lead over the Stars. While Des Moines has won the last four meetings between these two teams, including the last two trips the Stars made to Urbandale, the team that Lincoln comes to town with will look vastly different than in previous matchups. Tanner Laczynski, who is third in the USHL in scoring (15-28-43) was recently acquired from Chicago, and along with Ludvig Hoff (17-25-42) and Grant Jozefek (13-26-39) Lincoln now boasts three of the top six scorers in the league. Chicago also traded Trevor Hamilton to the Stars and Hamilton is third in the USHL among defensemen in points (7-20-27). Lincoln comes into the weekend with a Western Conference best record of 24-18-1-0 and their 120 goals scored are tied with Waterloo for the most in the West. Des Moines concludes their season series with Lincoln at the Ice Box on Friday, March 4th.
Saturday the Buccaneers will get their first look at the Madison Capitols during the season. In their second season the Capitols currently sit in 8th in the Eastern Conference with a record of 16-20-2-2, and they host the Muskegon Lumberjacks on Wednesday and travel to take on the Omaha Lancers on Friday before arriving at Buccaneer Arena. The Capitols are led by Sam McCormick (19-15-34) in both goals and points and Daniel Willett (2-17-19) leads the defensemen in points. Madison has kept their goaltenders busy this season as the team has surrendered the most shots on goal this season with 1,357, and they're the only USHL team to have given up over 200 more shots on goal than they've taken (1,153). Their 129 goals surrendered is second to worst in the Eastern Conference behind only Team USA. It's the first of two meetings the Buccaneers have scheduled with Madison, the second being a road game at Alliant Energy Center on Saturday, March 19th.
Des Moines will have 2 for 1 Miller Lite and Coors Light tallboys on Miller Lite Night Friday and the billet families will be recognized before the game as well. Saturday it will be the player's families turn to be recognized before the game and the players will skate with fans in a Post-game Skate after the game.
For tickets to either game call the box office at 278-2827.
