Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp News Release
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - J.C. Millan crushed a tiebreaking home run on Saturday to lead the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp to a 3-2 victory over the Pensacola Blue Wahoos from the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville. A crowd of 8,261 enjoyed Ramen Noodle Appreciation Night and Saturday Night Fireworks, both presented by 121 Financial and Union Home Mortgage.
The score was tied at two in the sixth when Millan blasted a solo home run off Pensacola (40-33, 2-1) reliever Anthony Vizcaya (0-1). That put Jacksonville (30-43, 1-2) ahead 3-2.
In the top of the seventh, Joe Cronin tripled with one out. The next batter, Michael Davis, lifted a fly ball to right field. Stone Garrett made the catch and then fired home to cut down Davis in an inning-ending double play, keeping the score 2-2.
Jumbo Shrimp starter Sixto Sanchez (3-2) ran into his only trouble in the fourth. Travis Blankenhorn singled and Alex Kirilloff doubled to put runners on second and third to start the frame. After a ground out, Lewin Diaz and Caleb Hamilton each notched RBI singles to give Pensacola a 2-0 lead.
Santiago Chavez and Anfernee Seymour each singled with one out in the fifth. A wild pitch moved Seymour to second and Riley Mahan followed with a two-run base knock to tie the game at two.
Sanchez fanned a season-high nine batters without a walk in his seven frames, ceding just two runs on seven hits. Dylan Lee pitched a scoreless eighth and Brett Graves did the same in the ninth to earn his third save.
Saturday's winning raffle number of 1245081034 won a prize of $134.
