Milkmen Win Series Finale Through Big Offensive Performance

FRANKLIN, Wis. - The Milwaukee Milkmen closed their four game series against the Kansas City Monarchs strong by winning game four of the series 14-7.

"We are on such a different trajectory than we were 10 games ago," Logan Trowbridge said of the team's series win. "You can just tell from after the all star break things are different."

The Milkmen started off with a bang by scoring seven runs in the first inning. Barnum smashed a three run home run that scored Bryan Torres and Will Kengor. Christ Conely then hit a single that scored Aaron Hill, and Trowbridge hit another three run home run that also scored Mason Davis and Conely.

Starting pitcher Jake Matthys did give up an unearned run in the top of the first inning, but he responded by tossing three straight scoreless innings.

In the bottom of the fourth, Milwaukee scored again when Prime singled to score Trowbridge, and Keon Barnum grounded into a double play that scored Torres. The Milkmen lead was then 9-1.

Matthys then gave up a solo home run in the top of the fifth and gave up another three runs in the sixth, but Jack Mahoney came in to collect the last out without giving up any further damage. The Milkmen responded by scoring another two in the bottom of the sixth with a fielder's choice from Kengor that scored Torres and a single from Barnum that scored Kengor. Milwaukee now led 11-5.

Juan Echevarria then allowed another two runs to score in the eighth inning, but Milwaukee once again responded by scoring three runs this time. Prime hit a two run home run that also scored Torres and Kelly hit a long single that scored Barnum from second.

Rodrigo Benoit came in to close the game for the Milkmen and only allowed one hit as Milwaukee closed 14-7.

"Credit to our offense, when they scored we answered right back," Milkmen manager Anthony Barone said of Milwaukee's scoring. "It was just a really great day offensively and the pitching did what they needed to do."

Milwaukee will now start a three game series against the Sioux City Explorers that will wrap up the Milkmen's seven game homestand. Game one of the series begins Friday at 6:35 p.m.
