Military Appreciation Day as Americans Host Tulsa

Allen, Texas - The Allen Americans, ECHL affiliate of the San Jose Sharks host the Tulsa Oilers tonight at 7:05 PM at Allen Event Center on Ortho Texas Military Appreciation Day.
It's doubleheader hockey day in Allen, as prior to the Americans and Oilers game at 7:05 PM, it will be hockey Military style as the Marines battle Army at 4:05 PM. Doors for the first game open at 3:30 PM.
The Americans will wear special jersey's tonight that will be auctioned off following the game. A portion of the proceeds from tonight's auction will go to Carry the Load.
The Americans enter tonight's contest with Tulsa five points behind Colorado for the top spot in the Mountain Division after Colorado lost last night to Utah.
Americans defenseman Joel Chouinard extended his point streak to five games with an assist in last night's 5-4 shootout win. Riley Gill won his 27th game of the year last night which is six shy of his career high for a season. Gill won 33 games two years ago on the way to a Kelly Cup.
Tyler Barnes scored two goals and added an assist last night. Barnes also had the game winner in the shootout for Allen.

About the Americans The Allen Americans play in the ECHL, the premiere AA hockey league in North America. The Americans were established in 2009 and have won four AA championships in seven full seasons of minor pro hockey. In those seven seasons Allen has qualified for the playoffs every year with five trips to the league finals in that time. Allen is in its third season in the ECHL.
