Belleville Bulls News Release
Belleville Bulls netminder Mike Murphy has been named OHL Goaltender of the Month for January. Murphy had an outstanding month for the Bulls, finishing with a sparkling 9-1-0-0 record along with a 1.59 goals against average and .951 save percentage while recording one shutout. He was also named first or second star of the game in five of his ten starts in the month. The Inverary, Ontario native was a model of consistency in January, allowing more than two goals in a single game just twice. He also recorded eight straight victories in the month to help the Bulls to a club record tying 12 game win streak.
Murphy currently leads the OHL in goals against average (2.24) and save percentage (.933) while ranking second in victories with 27. He is also representing the Eastern Conference at the 2008 OHL All-Star Classic in Sault Ste. Marie this week. Murphy is currently on pace to set Bulls team records for most wins, lowest goals against average, and highest save percentage in a season.
