McCollum and Helenius share ADT CHL Goaltender of the Week

Toronto, ON - The Canadian Hockey League today announced that Thomas McCollum of the Guelph Storm and Riku Helenius of the Seattle Thunderbirds were both named ADT CHL Goaltender of the Week after posting practically identical numbers last week.

McCollum was 2-0-0-0 with a 0.50 goals against average and .987 save percentage in two games while Helenius was 2-0-0-0 with a 0.50 goals against average and .980 save percentage in two games.

McCollum started the week with a 28 save shutout to back the Storm to a 3-0 road win over the Sarnia Sting on Friday. It was his fourth shutout of the season. He followed up with 46 saves in a 2-1 road win over the Kitchener Rangers on Saturday. McCollum was the first star in both games and helped the Storm win for the eighth time in their past 10 games. The 18-year-old from Sanborn, NY, improved his season record to 18-11-3-3 with a 2.52 goals against average and .913 save percentage in 36 games this season.

Helenius stopped 27 of the 28 shots faced as the Thunderbirds downed the Prince Albert Raiders 3-1 on Wednesday and he stopped all 22 shots faced as the Thunderbirds shut-out the Portland Winter Hawks 4-0 on Saturday. Helenius, a 19-year-old from Ilves-Tampere, Finland, improved to 15-9-5-1 this season with a 2.37 goals against average and .917 save percentage in 30 games as a WHL rookie.

Nicolas Champion of the Acadie-Bathurst Titan was the QMJHL nominee after posting a 2-0-0-0 record with a 1.00 goals against average and .926 save percentage in two games.
