Mike Banwell Released from PTO

Springfield, Mass. - The Springfield Falcons announced Tuesday that defenseman Mike Banwell has been released from his professional tryout agreement (PTO). Banwell, who signed the PTO Friday, March 7, did not appear in a game with the Falcons while with the team.

Banwell, 26, has appeared in 49 games this season with the Reading Royals of the East Coast Hockey League, totaling 14 points (two goals, 12 assists), 42 penalty minutes and a +9 rating. The Scarborough, Ontario native has also seen action is two games with the AHL's Bridgeport Sound Tigers.

The 6-foot-2, 195-pounder played 19 games with the team in 2012-13, amassing two assists, 30 penalty minutes and a -7 rating in his time with Springfield.

Banwell is a veteran of 68 AHL games and 70 ECHL contests.

The Falcons are back in action at the MassMutual Center Friday, March 14 versus the Albany Devils and Saturday, March 15 versus the Providence Bruins. Both contests begin at 7:00 p.m.

Fans are invited to the MassMutual Center in 2013-14 to watch the reigning Northeast Division-champion Falcons compete in their 20th anniversary season.
