Mighty Ducks Sign Pair

CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Mighty Ducks of Anaheim agreed to terms Wednesday with goaltender Jean-Francois Damphousse and right wing Rob Valicevic on one-year contracts. Both players are expected to begin this season with the AHL Cincinnati Mighty Ducks.

Damphousse, a first-round pick by New Jersey in 1997, went 1-3-0 with a 2.45 goals-against average and .896 save percentage in six games with the Devils last season. The 23-year-old St. Alexis, Quebec native also played in 18 games with Albany of the AHL, going 3-11-2 with a 3.42 goals-against average and .906 save percentage. The 6-foot, 160-pounder spent all of the 2000-2001 season with Albany, posting a 24-23-3 record with a 2.86 goals-against average and .914 save percentage. He was acquired by Anaheim with Petr Sykora, Mike Commodore and Igor Pohanka from New Jersey in exchange for Oleg Tverdovsky, Jeff Friesen and Maxim Balmochnykh on July 6, 2002.

Valicevic, a sixth-round pick by the New York Islanders in 1991, had one goal and one assist in 17 games with Los Angeles last season. The 6-foot-1, 198-pounder also played 59 games with Manchester of the AHL, recording 11 goals and 23 assists. The 31-year-old Detroit, Michigan native spent three seasons with Nashville (1998-2001), scoring 26 goals and assisting on 19 others in 159 games.
