
Mighty Ducks of Anaheim Expected to Send Newly-Signed Prospects to Cincinnati

CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Mighty Ducks of Anaheim have signed right wing Alexei Smirnov to a three-year contract and right wing Jonathan Hedstrom to a one-year contract.
Smirnov, a first-round pick by Anaheim in 2000, had five goals and 11 assists with 46 penalty minutes in 48 games last season for CSKA in the Russian Elite League.
Hedstrom, a ninth-round pick by Toronto in 1997, had 11 goals and seven assists with 38 penalty minutes in 47 games last season for Lulea of the Swedish Elite League. He was acquired by Anaheim from Toronto for sixth and seventh round picks in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft on June 25, 2000.
Both players are expected to begin next season with the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks of the American Hockey League.
