Mighty Ducks of Anaheim assign 23 players to Cincinnati

CINCINNATI, Ohio – The Cincinnati Mighty Ducks of the American Hockey League have been assigned goaltenders Ilya Bryzgalov and Eddy Ferhi, defensemen Juha Alen, Sheldon Brookbank, Tomas Malec, Shane O'Brien, Mark Popovic and Aaron Rome; and forwards Tim Brent, Stanislav Chistov, George Davis, Curtis Glencross, Zenon Konopka, Michael Holmqvist, Chris Kunitz, Joffrey Lupul, Pierre Parenteau, Cory Pecker, Dustin Penner, Joel Perrault, Igor Pohanka, Alexei Smirnov and Joel Stepp by the National Hockey League's Mighty Ducks of Anaheim.

Alen, Brookbank, Bryzgalov, Chistov, Davis, Ferhi, Glencross, Holmqvist, Kunitz, Lupul, O'Brien, Parenteau, Pecker, Pohanka, Popovic, Smirnov and Stepp all played with Cincinnati last season.

Four of the players assigned – Chistov (2001), Holmqvist (1997), Lupul (2002) and Smirnov (2000) – were first-round picks by Anaheim.

The Mighty Ducks open their eighth training camp at Cincinnati Gardens Wednesday, September 29 at Cincinnati Gardens. All training camp workout sessions at Cincinnati Gardens will be open to the public.

Cincinnati opens the 2004-05 regular-season with three road games in four nights, beginning Wednesday, October 13 in Utah. The Mighty Ducks play their first game at Cincinnati Gardens Saturday, October 23 against Rochester to start a three-game home stand.

Individual game tickets will go on sale later this month. An exact date and time will be announced when the information becomes available.
