River Rats looking for a few good mice

Albany N.Y. - The Albany River Rats today announced a talent search for their "Ice Mice" Promotional and Skating Troupe, and qualified singers to perform the National Anthem at their Pepsi Arena home games. The top affiliate of the New Jersey Devils has set up an open tryout for those meeting criteria outlined below on Saturday, September 25, 2004 from 3:00-5:00pm at Crossgates Mall.

The "Ice Mice" provide fan-interaction and lead on-ice contests and in-crowd promotions. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, be physically fit and be able to accommodate a flexible schedule. Interested parties should wear fitted clothing during tryouts and may bring head shots or have their photograph taken the day of the tryout.

Those wishing to audition to sing the National Anthem at River Rats games should be prepared to sing acappella and singers under the age of 18 must have a legal guardian present at the time of their audition.

Interested applicants should pre-register for a tryout by calling Darcy Veeder at (518) 487-2244 x318 or via e-mail to darcy@albanyriverrats.com by 5:00pm on Thursday, September 23rd. SKATING ABILITY IS not required, but helpful. Participants are expected to be present at the lower level of Crossgates Mall, in front of Macy's department store at 2:30pm Saturday, September 25.

WKKF Kiss 102.3FM will provide a live remote, and judges for the one-of-a-kind event will include "Rowdy" The Rat, Ice Mice Team Captain Shealee Whitney and members of the River Rats staff. There will also be River Rats prize and ticket giveaways for the team's 7:00pm season opener on October 15th against the Binghamton Senators at Pepsi Arena.

The Albany River Rats, who begin their 12th season in the American Hockey League this October, are owned and operated by Capital District Sports Inc., and serve as the primary affiliate of the National Hockey League's New Jersey Devils.
