Defenseman Francois Beauchemin Claimed Off Waivers

Syracuse, NY (September 14, 2004) – The Syracuse Crunch announced today that the Columbus Blue Jackets have claimed defenseman Francois Beauchemin off waivers from the Montreal Canadiens.

Beauchemin, 24, appeared in 77 games with Hamilton (AHL) last season, recording 9 goals, 27 assists and 57 penalty minutes. In 264 career AHL games with Quebec and Hamilton, Beauchemin has tallied 27 goals, 65 assists and 281 penalty minutes. Beauchemin also appeared in one game with Montreal (NHL) without recording a point. A native of Sorel, Quebec, Beauchemin was selected by Montreal in the third round, 75th overall, in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft.
