Midland took game two of this three-game series 8-3 Wednesday night from Dr Pepper Ballpark behind 19 hits and a strong outing by starter Jason Bergmann.
The big league veteran pitched six and two-thirds innings for Midland to earn his first win of the season. Bergmann, who was 0-6 with a 7.01 ERA, allowed three runs on four hits and struck out seven.
Following Ryan Ortiz's sacrifice fly, Tyler Ladendorf gave the RockHounds a 4-0 lead in the second inning on his three-run homer to left field.
The 'Riders scored in the third on Renny Osuna's sacrifice fly to left that brought in Elio Sarmiento.
Midland extended their lead on Jeremy Barfield's solo home run in fourth and RBI hits in the fifth by Adam Heether and Ortiz.
Trailing 7-1 in the fifth, Mitch Hilligoss smashed an RBI double to left-center field that brought home Sarmiento for his second run scored in the game.
Sarmiento brought in Engel Beltre on an RBI single in the seventh to pull the 'Riders to within a 7-3 score.
The RockHounds added an insurance run in the eighth on Matt Sulentic's RBI groundout with the bases loaded.
Frisco starter Ben Snyder allowed seven runs on a season-high 12 hits over four and a third innings. Snyder drops to 8-3 on the season, and despite the loss still leads the team in wins.
