Columbia, MOâ The last-place Mid-Missouri downed the first-place Rockford RiverHawks for the second consecutive night. Mid-Missouri took the series with the 4-3 win.
With the game tied at 3-3 and two outs in the bottom of the eighth inning, Mid-Missouri pulled off a squeeze bunt. Brent Metheny bunted the ball and beat out the throw scoring C.J. Thomas from third base.
Dave Lemieux (4-0) picked up the win in relief for Mid-Missouri. Justin Craker picked up his fifth save of the year. Jesen Merle (3-2) took the loss for the RiverHawks in relief.
The series wraps up tomorrow night at 7:05. The RiverHawks return to Marinelli Field on Saturday at 7:05 to take on the Windy City ThunderBolts. Saturday night will be umbrella give away night sponsored by State Farm Insurance. Call (815) 964-2255 for tickets.
