Former New York Yankees star Mickey Rivers is going to make an appearance at an upcoming Cardinals game. September 2nd, the season finale, will feature a book signing by Rivers. In a career that spanned 15 seasons (1970-84), Mickey played for the California Angels, New York Yankees, and the Texas Rangers.
Several accolades accompany Riversname in the record books. He led the American League in triples twice with 11 in 1974 and 13 in 1975. Also in 1975 Mickey Rivers stole the most bases in the American League, swiping 70 bags. In 1976 Rivers was an All-Star before entering his first World Series with the New York Yankees. With the Yankees Mickey Rivers won the 1977 World Series and the 1978 World Series.
On the Skylandsconcourse, Rivers will be signing his book, Aint No Sense Worrying, the Wit and Wisdom of Mick the Quick Rivers. The Cardinals will host the Staten Island Yankees in the home finale at 7:15 PM Tuesday, September 2nd. Miller Lite is sponsoring a bat giveaway, in which the Cardinals players and coaches will autograph the winning bats.
